A large bathroom can really add a touch of luxury to your home, giving you an elegant uncluttered space to truly unwind and relax in. Unfortunately, this does have its downside; it can be hard to fill it so that it doesn’t seem cold and empty. So just how do you find the balance between a bathroom that is overfilled and one that looks too big?
You have the space so use it. Luxurious fitting like freestanding baths are perfect for larger bathrooms, in fact they need plenty of space or they will look cramped and out of place. Large Whirlpool bath tubs are a great way to fill an empty corner of the bathroom and the extra space means that large freestanding shower cubicles can be added to your bathroom without compromising on the space in any way.
Think about the walls
In a small bathroom, uncluttered walls can help to make the room look bigger, of course the opposite is true in a large bathroom. Think carefully when you are planning a larger bathroom, this is a good place to add some colour. Go bold and add a real splash of something vibrant, it will really help to make the bathroom look warmer and cosier. You could also add an extra heated towel rail; this will serve two purposes, it will help to heat the bathroom up and will also fil up some of that wall space. You could also consider a floating shelf, or two to hold some decorative candles or even a picture.
Don’t forget the floor in your bathroom, this is a big expanse and whilst tiles can be beautiful, the wrong ones can add to the cold feel of your bathroom. Mosaic or vintage style tiles with a larger pattern are ideal in a larger bathroom where they can really break up the space and add a bit of a feature. If you do go for plain tiles, and there is nothing wrong with this then add a luxurious rug to break up that space; this will also add a cosy element to the floor.
The right lighting is always important. In a larger bathroom, really bright lighting can make it seem bigger and will make it look very cold, opt for muted subtle lighting that will help to give your bathroom a warmer glow and help it feel cosier.
With these tips and tricks, filling a large bathroom without making it look too cluttered is just as easy as filling the bath that’s in it.
